Overview

SwipeRecipe ("we", "our", "the app") is a recipe discovery app. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What We Collect

Data stored locally on your device only:

• Username — a display name you choose
• Profile preferences — country, household size, dietary preferences, cooking confidence
• Swipe history — recipes you've liked, passed, or hidden
• Saved recipes — your personal collection
• Meal plans — your weekly dinner planner
• Pair session preferences — your local Pair Mode state (ephemeral)

Data we do NOT collect:

• No email address or account registration required
• No location data
• No camera or microphone access
• No contacts
• No tracking across other apps or websites

Third-Party Services

TheMealDB: Recipe data is fetched from themealdb.com. Requests include no personally identifiable information.

Pair Mode (optional feature). When you create or join a Pair Mode session, the following data is sent to and stored on our backend (Supabase): the session's 6-character code, the username you typed (free-text, not linked to any account), and the dish IDs of recipes you swipe on while a session is active. This data is used solely to coordinate matches between you and your partner. Sessions are inactive after you leave and the data is retained for at most 30 days. We do not link this data to your device, your Apple ID, or any external identity. You can stop collection at any time by tapping Leave Session.

Data Retention

All personal data lives on your device. Deleting the app removes all local data. Pair Mode session data on our servers is retained for at most 30 days after the session becomes inactive, then automatically deleted.

Children

SwipeRecipe is rated 4+ and contains no content inappropriate for children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date above.
