HonestSpend is a daily money journal built around "loud budgeting" — the practice of being honest, out loud, about what you can and cannot afford. You log spending in a few seconds, tag it, and write a short honest note. There is no scolding, no streaks to break, and no automated coaching.
No. HonestSpend does not link to banks. It does not use Plaid, Finicity, MX, or any other financial aggregator. There are no account credentials to enter and nothing leaves your phone to fetch transactions. Every entry is something you type in yourself.
No. HonestSpend is a journaling and self-tracking tool, not a financial advisor. It does not give investment, tax, debt, insurance, or budgeting recommendations. Entries, tags, and charts are descriptive only. For real financial advice, please consult a qualified financial professional.
The free tier includes up to 7 entries per week with full tagging and notes. Premium unlocks unlimited entries, multi-category reports, and exports. Premium is offered as $2.99 monthly, $14.99 yearly, or $19.99 lifetime. Premium is not required to use the journal.
All of your entries and notes are stored locally on your device. HonestSpend does not upload them to any server we run. If you choose to enable iCloud sync in Settings, your entries are stored in your own private iCloud container so they can sync across your Apple devices — we do not have access to that data.
Open the app, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase.
If you chose the monthly or yearly Premium option, you can manage it in iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions, find HonestSpend, and tap Cancel Subscription. The $19.99 lifetime option is a one-time purchase and has nothing to cancel.
